Police in Neno have launched a manhunt for an unknown suspect who robbed a kabaza operator and fled with a red Lifan motorcycle valued at K2.4 million.
Neno Police publicist Rebecca Msoliza said the incident occurred on Monday at around 3pm.
According to Msoliza, the victim, Amadi Mwale, was hired by the suspect from Zalewa to ferry him to Mtembwe Village, where he claimed he wanted to negotiate with charcoal dealers.
Upon arrival at the village, the suspect allegedly struck Mwale twice on the head with an unknown object, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then fled with the motorcycle towards Neno Boma.
Mwale is currently admitted to Lisungwi Community Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Police say investigations are underway to arrest the suspect and recover the stolen motorcycle.
Mwale hails from Andileya Village, under Traditional Authority Symon in Neno District.
