Nkhotakota Police Hunt Suspects After Attack on NEEF Staff

Police in Nkhotakota have launched an investigation into the assault of workers from the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).
Five NEEF employees were attacked in the Mpamantha area while collecting an outstanding loan from a local group.
The loan had been obtained by the group in 2023 and had not yet been repaid.
According to police spokesperson Chisomo Chuma, a dispute arose during the collection process and turned violent.
The workers sustained injuries and immediately reported the matter to Nkhotakota Police Station.
They were later referred to hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police have warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, saying those responsible will be arrested and taken to court.
