ACB Arrests Five in Greenbelt Authority Corruption Probe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested five individuals on charges of corruption, abuse of office, and money laundering in connection with investigations involving the Greenbelt Authority.
In a press statement dated 20 February 2026, the Bureau confirmed that the arrests were made on 17th and 18th February.
The suspects have been identfied as Loyce Chilimsungwi, former Budget Director at the Ministry of Finance, Joseph Banda, part-time worker at SDK Engineering, Mphatso Mtonza, intern at SDK Engineering, Allan Chapweteka, of Achapwe General Dealers and Kondwani Mdoko, Managing Director of Bitrate Media
According to the ACB, all five suspects have appeared before court and were granted bail, except for Kondwani Mdoko, whose bail ruling was reserved for 20 February 2026.
The Bureau stated that the latest arrests bring the total number of suspects in the Greenbelt Authority investigation to 16, with two more individuals currently at large.
ACB Senior Public Relations Officer Jacqueline Ngongonda signed the statement, reaffirming the Bureau’s commitment to fighting corruption in Malawi.
