Mumba, Kabwila Return to Court

Lazarus Chakwera’s 2025 presidential running mate, Vitumbiko Mumba, and Jessie Kabwila, who serves as Publicity Secretary of the Malawi Congress Party, are expected to appear before Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning.
The two are facing charges of allegedly fabricating and publishing false information likely to cause public alarm.
The charges are linked to matters surrounding the September 16, 2025, general elections.
Both Mumba and Kabwila deny any wrongdoing.
They were granted bail on December 15, 2025, pending further court proceedings.
