Two of three men who robbed a businessman of a motorcycle, K1.1 million, and a cellphone in Namitete on February 22, 2026, have been arrested following a serious road accident while fleeing.

Lilongwe Police Publicist, Inspector Hastings Chigalu, said the suspects, Willard Thauzeni and Jafali Kalipande, first collided with a cyclist carrying charcoal and later with a Honda Freed vehicle.

Kalipande sustained a broken leg and is currently admitted at Kamuzu Central Hospital, while Thauzeni suffered minor injuries.

The third suspect, Samuel Njiratenga, also injured in the incident, remains at large.

Inspector Chigalu added that police have recovered all the stolen items and plan to charge the arrested suspects with robbery once they are medically cleared.
