Police in Nkhata Bay District say they are keeping in custody three Congolese and Tanzanian nationals on suspicion of entering the country illegally.
Police spokesperson for the district, Enala Kalua, said the suspects were arrested at Nkhata Bay Port after officers received a tip-off that the three were hiding on board the MV Ilala ferry.
She identified the suspects as Mwimule Emmanuel, 35, and Shandrrack Anuri Byamungu, 20, both Congolese nationals, and Charles Changwa, 34, a Tanzanian national.
Ms. Kalua said the three are expected to appear in court soon to face charges of illegal entry into the country.
