Police in Mzimba have arrested 45-year-old Ephraim Jere on suspicion of stealing a tipper truck.
Jere, who hails from Phoseka Village under Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District, is accused of stealing the vehicle on September 25, 2025, and disabling its GPS tracking system to avoid detection.
Northern Region Police Spokesperson Cecilia Mfune confirmed the development in a statement, saying investigations led officers to Tete, where the suspect allegedly sold the truck.
Through collaboration with Mozambican law enforcement authorities, Malawian police successfully recovered the stolen vehicle.
Jere has since been remanded at Mzimba Prison and is expected to appear in court soon to answer a charge of theft by a servant.
