Double tragedy: 15-year-old Girl Impregnated, Infected with STD after Defilement

Police in Southern Province have launched a manhunt for two suspects in Itezhi-Tezhi District for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl, leaving her pregnant and infected with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
The incident, which occurred between January and February 2026, reportedly came to light on March 2 after the victim confessed the ordeal to her mother.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namaloingo, confirmed the development yesterday, stating that a medical examination has since corroborated the victim’s account.
“The medical findings have confirmed the report. We have since opened a docket of defilement and we are doing everything possible to bring the culprits to book,” Namaloingo said.
The police chief further condemned the act, describing it as a gross violation of child rights. He urged the public to protect children from all forms of sexual abuse and to report such cases promptly to ensure justice.
The suspects remain at large as police continue their investigations.
