Police in the Central West Region have arrested two Chinese nationals and four Malawians suspected of operating a cybercrime network that targeted victims abroad.
According to regional police publicist Sub Inspector Foster Benjamin, the suspects were apprehended during a police operation aimed at dismantling the alleged online fraud syndicate.
During the raid, detectives seized 32 computers, 18 internet routers, a CCTV server, a printer and several notebooks.
The notebooks reportedly contained hacking instructions and details of Telegram accounts believed to belong to potential victims.
Police also rescued 18 Malawian youths who had allegedly been lured with promises of employment.
Authorities say the youths were later forced to participate in online scams targeting international victims.
Benjamin said investigations into the suspected cybercrime network are ongoing.
