A court in Blantyre has adjourned a criminal case involving former Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma and two senior police officers.
The matter was scheduled to continue on Friday, with the court expected to consider an application seeking to transfer the case to Lilongwe.
However, court documents indicate that one of the defence lawyers for the accused, Khumbo Soko, is currently engaged in another matter within the court system.
Ministry of Justice spokesperson Frank Namangale said state lawyers have since been advised to file notices for hearing while waiting for the court to set a new date.
Ching’oma, former Deputy Inspector General of Police Ackis Muwanga, and Laudon Nthinda are facing charges bordering on extortion, among other allegations.
