Man Arrested in Chitipa Over Suspected Cattle Theft

Police in Chitipa are keeping a 21-year-old man, Watson Msukwa, in custody for allegedly stealing cattle valued at about K1.2 million.
According to Mathews Mfune, Assistant Public Relations Officer for Malawi Police Service at Chitipa Police Station, the incident occurred during the night of March 4 and 5, 2026, at Mwakalukwa Village in the area of Senior Chief Mwenemisuku.
Mfune said the complainant had secured ten cattle in a kraal on the evening of March 4. However, on the following morning he discovered that one cow was missing and reported the matter to police.
Police later arrested Msukwa at Yafeti Village in the Luvilla area while he was allegedly attempting to sell the stolen animal.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
