Balaka Police Investigate Death of Woman Found in Maize Field

A 30-year-old woman has been found dead in her maize field in Mangani Village, under Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District.
Balaka Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said the deceased, identified as Ethel Chikanda, left home on Sunday morning to work in her maize field but did not return by evening.
Her relatives became concerned when she failed to return by around 6:00 PM, prompting them to organize a search.
According to M’bumpha, the family discovered her body at around 8:00 PM in the field. He said the body had visible injuries.
Police later transported the body to Balaka District Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident.
