Police Arrest Man Over Stolen Motorcycle in Likoma

Police in Likoma District have arrested a 26-year-old man, Drog Banda, on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle from Chima Health Post.

According to Detective Inspector Beston Mataka, police launched an investigation after the motorcycle recently went missing. The officers later received a tip-off that the bike had been spotted at Banda’s home.

Mataka said the motorcycle was recovered during a night raid conducted by police with support from hospital security personnel.

Alfred Nyasulu, the District Environmental Health Officer for Likoma, confirmed that the motorcycle had been stolen from the home of a hospital employee and expressed relief that the property had been recovered.

Police say Banda, who has previously been convicted of theft, is now facing a fresh theft charge and is expected to appear in court soon.
