The Malawi national football team, popularly known as the Flames, have appointed former player Fischer Anong’a Kondowe as the team’s Fitness Coach.
Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa brought in Kondowe to replace Peter Mgangira, who is currently tied up with club duties ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
Kondowe, popularly known as “Jahman,” previously served at Big Bullets, where he left the club by mutual agreement in November 2025.
The former midfielder has a long history with Bullets, having joined the club’s youth team in 1996 before being promoted to the senior squad in 1998. He went on to enjoy a remarkable career spanning about 24 seasons before retiring from competitive football in 2020.
Images shared on the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Facebook page show Kondowe already working with the Flames squad in his new role.
The appointment brings one of Malawi’s respected football figures back into the national team setup as the Flames continue preparations for upcoming assignments.
