Court Grants Bail to Kasakula, Kamwachale in MBC Case

The Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court in Blantyre has granted bail to former Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, George Kasakula, and the broadcaster’s former Director of Finance Jack Kamwachale.

The two are facing three charges of abuse of office and conspiring to defraud.

During the court proceedings, the accused were formally informed of the charges levelled against them.

In her ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate Asunta Maxwell granted the pair bail with several conditions.

These include a cash bond of K350,000 each and a non-cash bond of K2 million.

They have also been ordered to surrender their travel documents and report to the police every two weeks.
