Kasungu Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Noel Vilipapa, for allegedly stealing solar equipment valued at K50 million from Kasungu National Park.

Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho said the equipment, two 160-watt solar panels, three solar batteries and a solar energizer, went missing on 8 March 2026.

Following the report, police detectives visited the scene and launched investigations, which led to Vilipapa’s arrest through an intelligence-led operation.

According to Kachikho, the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the offence with another man who remains on the run.

Police have recovered all the stolen items, and Vilipapa, from Kajojo Village under Traditional Authority Lukwa in Kasungu District, is expected to appear in court soon to answer theft charges.
