MCP Deputy Secretary General Gerald Kazembe Resigns

The Deputy Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Gerald Kazembe, has resigned from the position.
In a letter addressed to the party’s Secretary General, Richard Chimwendo Banda, dated March 14, 2026, Kazembe said the decision follows a period of deep reflection after the 2025 Malawi General Elections, which saw the party move from government to the opposition benches.
However, Kazembe said he will remain a member of the MCP.
Meanwhile, Chimwendo Banda has confirmed receiving the resignation letter.
