Three Arrested Over Vehicle Theft Along Balaka–Liwonde Road

Police in Balaka District have arrested three suspects for allegedly stealing goods from vehicles plying the Balaka–Liwonde Road.
According to Balaka Police spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha, the suspects have been identified as Santony Banda, 37, Maria Mishoni, 33, and Ibran Son, 26.
M’bumpha said the arrests followed an investigation conducted by the Balaka Police Eastern Region Combat Squad.
When questioned, Santony Banda reportedly admitted to stealing goods from vehicles along the Balaka–Liwonde Road and revealed that the stolen items were kept at the homes of Ibran Son and Maria Mishoni.
Police have since recovered four video cameras and eight bags containing assorted items.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon, where they will be charged with theft.
Banda and Mishoni are from Mponda Village under Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District, while Son comes from Kapiye Village under the same Traditional Authority in Zomba District.
