Woman Dies in Mchinji After Drinking Alcohol On An Empty Stomach

A woman suspected to have been engaged in sex work has died after reportedly consuming alcohol without eating in Kamwendo, Mchinji District.
Mchinji Deputy Police Spokesperson Susan Mchekeya identified the deceased as Alinafe Mbewe, believed to have been between 25 and 30 years old.
Mchekeya said Mbewe died at a guesthouse in Kamwendo, where she had gone to meet a client, but began feeling unwell shortly after arriving.
According to Mchekeya, a post-mortem conducted at Mchinji District Hospital revealed that the cause of death was hypoglycaemia, resulting from consuming alcohol without eating.
The deceased hailed from Beyata Village under Traditional Authority Zulu in Mchinji District.
