The Zambia Police Service has arrested 21 suspected illegal immigrants during an operation conducted in Lusaka, specifically in Kabangwe West.
According to police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi, the operation took place on March 18, 2026, following a tip-off from community members that foreign nationals were being harboured in a house in the area.
Officers initially found 13 individuals inside the house, while eight others were later apprehended nearby after attempting to flee, bringing the total number of suspects to 21.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 20 of the suspects are believed to be Ethiopian nationals, while one is believed to be Somali.
Police say the house was rented by a man identified as Michael Kyalo, aged between 30 and 35, who is currently on the run, with a manhunt underway.
Authorities have since engaged the Department of Immigration to conduct joint investigations into the matter and any related offences.
Police have also commended members of the public for providing timely information and encouraged continued cooperation in maintaining law and order.
