President of the United States Donald Trump has announced a temporary halt to plans to attack Iran’s power facilities, saying the country has shown interest in negotiations.
The development comes amid rising tensions, with Iran reportedly threatening to strike key electricity and oil infrastructure in Arab nations.
Speaking on the situation, Trump suggested that communication challenges may be affecting progress, claiming that recent joint operations by the US and Israel had damaged Iran’s communication systems during airstrikes.
Trump also made a controversial remark, saying he is uncertain whether Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive or not.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Trump further claimed that Khamenei may no longer be effectively in control, adding that he is instead engaging with other Iranian leaders in efforts to restore stability.
