The Second Grade Magistrate Mphatso Gladstone Chirundu, has sentenced Duncan Chidothi to 11 years in prison after finding him guilty of attempted murder involving an attempt to remove human organs.
According to state prosecutor Mark Kavalo, the court was asked to impose a stiff sentence due to the seriousness of the offence and the risk the accused posed to the community.
The court heard that Chidothi was arrested on 25 February 2026 in connection with allegations that he attempted to kill a victim and remove their heart and liver.
Prosecutors further told the court that in 2023, Chidothi had previously been jailed for similar offences and had only recently been released from prison before reoffending.
A complainant, Tony Banda, also testified that the convict had attempted to attack him with a knife in an effort to carry out a similar act.
The magistrate ruled that the accused’s actions warranted a custodial sentence to protect the public.
