Police in Mchinji have arrested a 33-year-old deputy headteacher, Chrispine Banda, for allegedly indecently assaulting a 13-year-old learner.

The suspect, who works at Queens Wood Private Primary School, is accused of committing the offences between December 2025 and January 2026.

According to Mchinji Police spokesperson Limbani M’pinganjira, investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the victim to his office during night studies, where he inappropriately touched her.

The victim later reported the matter to her mother, who took the case to police, leading to Banda’s arrest.

Police say the suspect, who comes from Kayesa Village under Traditional Authority Zulu, is expected to appear in court soon.
