Man arrested for killing another man suspected of having an affair with his wife in Dowa

A 21-year-old Gift Banda has been arrested in Dowa for killing his friend, 20, suspected of having a sexual relationship with his girlfriend.
Police in Mponela say Banda allegedly murdered 20-year-old Thomas Yosefe on March 27, 2026, at Baron Estate, where both their parents work as tenants.
According to Mponela Police spokesperson, Sergeant Macpatson Msadala, Banda had for some time been accusing Yosefe of having an affair with a certain girl at the estate.
On the day of the incident, the two got into a quarrel over the issue, during which Banda allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Yosefe on the neck and left arm before fleeing the scene.
Yosefe was rushed to Madisi Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Banda was later arrested on April 6, 2026, at Nambuzi Village, where he had been hiding.
