Teen Arrested for Allegedly Defil!ng Cousin in Mwanza

Police in Mwanza have arrested 19-year-old Chikondi Maheya for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old cousin at Chambwinda Village in the district.

Mwanza Police spokesperson Ritta Mchecheta confirmed the arrest, saying the incident occurred when the suspect lured the victim while she was attending Easter prayers.

It is reported that Maheya took the girl to a nearby garden where he defiled her and later gave her K1 000 as a “token of appreciation” to keep the matter secret.

“The victim revealed the ordeal to her mother who reported the matter to police, leading to the arrest of the suspect,” she said.

Maheya, who comes from Kabango Village, Traditional Authority Nthache in Mwanza, is expected to appear in court soon to answer defilement charges.
