Old Mutual Partners GIZ, pumps Mk30 million to North East Foods Limited

As one way of supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and improve market access for farmers in the country, Old Mutual (Blantyre) Foundation Trust has supported North East Foods Limited with money amounting to MK30 million.
This was revealed in Blantyre during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Old Mutual (Blantyre) Foundation Trust and GIZ, a German Agency working on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.

Speaking in an interview with the press Taonga Manda, Old Mutual Blantyre Foundation Trust Chairperson said ceremony symbolizes a fulfillment of Old Mutual’s goal of supporting small enterprises.
“Through this MOU, the Old Mutual (Blantyre) Foundation Trust will provide a financial contribution of MK30 million to support the growth of and sustainability of North East Food Limited, a business that represents exactly the kind of enterprise we believe in: locally rooted, community-serving, and development-oriented.

“We are proud to play a role in strengthening this business, and we are committed to ensuring that every kwacha invested delivers real, measurable impact for the people it is intended to serve,” said Manda.
He added: “As we sign this agreement today, I want to reflect on what this moment calls us to do. It calls us to move beyond good intentions and into accountable action. It calls us to be transparent stewards of resources entrusted to us. And it calls us to keep the most vulnerable members of our communities at the centre of every decision we make.”
On her part, GIZ Country Director Inge Baumgarten hailed Old Mutual for the support rendered to North East Foods Limited.

Kettie Chisambi, Chief Executive Officer at North East Foods Limited said the support will help in procurement of the machine which will be used in processing feeds for fish and chickens from the Black Soldiers fly.
“The funds received will go a long way in procurement of machine which will be used in processing waste and final products which is livestock feed and we will also use the funds in training small holder farmers on how they can make their own black soldier flies.
North East Foods Limited is an aggro-processing and Export Company specialized in Black Soldiers fly Farming, Poultry farming and meat processing.
