Man Jailed 12 Years for Defiling 14-Year-Old Sister-in-Law in Balaka

The Balaka District Court has sentenced 21-year-old Donnie Seleman to 12 years’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling his 14-year-old sister-in-law, resulting in pregnancy.
Prosecutor Superintendent Bodwin Msukwa told the court that Seleman committed the offence between last year and this year in Andiamo.
Balaka Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha confirmed that Seleman pleaded guilty when he appeared before the court.
In his ruling delivered this morning, Magistrate Augustine Mizaya agreed with the State’s submission for a stiff sentence, emphasizing the need to deter similar offences.
Seleman, who comes from Nakumba Village under Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka District, has since been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
