Man to spend 10 years in jail for defiling 13-year-old girl in Chiradzulu

The Chiradzulu First Grade Magistrate’s Court has sentenced Clement Phambala, 38, to ten years in prison for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
According to prosecutor Peter Piringu, Phalambala committed the crime in Kanje village in the Haji chiefdom of the district.
According to the prosecution, the girl met Phambala at a market and asked him for money because she was hungry.
After giving him K1,000, he took the girl to a friend’s house where he raped her.
After all, Phambala was arrested by Montfort police and the results of the hospital confirmed that the girl had been raped.
The judge, Smart Mwaruwasa, said Phambala should be imprisoned for ten years as a warning to others who commit such acts.
Phambala hails from Malika chiefdom of Likoswe in the district.
