Old Mutual Malawi has applauded the Malawi National Spelling Bee especially on the impact it is having in nurturing discipline, confidence, critical thinking and communication skills among the youths in the country.
Old Mutual Group’s Strategy, Digital and Data Executive Lorraine Mlenga said this in Blantyre during the official donation of Mk15 million meant to support the National Spelling Competition activities country underway in the North and Central regions.
“The National Spelling Bee is more than a competition. It is a platform that nurtures confidence, discipline, critical thinking, communication skills, and the courage to excel — qualities that Malawi needs if we are to realise our national ambitions and build a thriving future.
“We are especially proud of the progress Malawi continues to make on such platforms, including the recent bronze medal achievement at the Africa Spelling Bee competition in Zimbabwe,” said Mlenga.

He promised Old Mutual that the funds will be used for the intended purpose.
Turning to the World Spelling Bee Competition slated for China in July this year, Chikho said preparations are at an advance stage.
“We are knocking the doors of various companies seeking for support and we are hopeful that some companies will come forward,” said Chikho.
