Seven Plead Not Guilty in Dr Victoria Bobby Murder Case

The trial of seven men accused of murdering youthful doctor Dr Victoria Bobby has begun at the High Court in Blantyre, with all the accused pleading not guilty to the charges against them.

The suspects, Charles Chikafa, Maxwell Elia, Rafik Abdul Hassan, Santos Chamaba, Peter Chimenya, Issa Ali and Peter Mphepo, denied the murder charge when they appeared before the court. They also pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery and burglary linked to the case.

Following the pleas, the State indicated that it is ready to begin presenting its witnesses as the trial gets underway.

Dr Bobby was shot dead in Blantyre in November 2025, in a case that sparked widespread public outrage and renewed calls for improved security.

The High Court is expected to hear testimony from prosecution witnesses as the case continues.
