Acts of kindness continue to pour in for Faith, the young Malawian girl whose emotional interview with CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo touched hearts across the world after she fled xenophobic violence in South Africa.
A family from Blantyre has now approached fundraiser Stanley Onjezani Kenani, expressing interest in contacting Faith’s parents so they can sponsor her education at St. Andrews International Primary School.
The offer comes just days after Congressman Silvester Ayuba James publicly pledged to support Faith’s education until she achieves her dream of becoming a doctor.
On 7 July, James shared Faith’s video on social media, appealing for help to locate her family.
“Anyone who can, please help me get in touch with the parents of this little smart cuteness as and when they get to Malawi. I am willing to take care of her school needs, including fees, until she attains her dream of becoming a doctor,” he wrote.
Faith captured the hearts of many during her interview with Larry Madowo, where she recalled sleeping outside the Malawi Consulate in South Africa after fleeing xenophobic attacks targeting African immigrants.
When asked about her future, Faith confidently said she dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help people.
Her courage, confidence and determination have sparked an outpouring of support from Malawians, with many expressing a desire to help her pursue her education and achieve her dream.
