The Neno First Grade Magistrate’s Court has sentenced 47-year-old Chatulukira Dzokole to 11 years imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to defiling a 14-year-old girl.
Neno Police Publicist Rabecca Msoliza said the State Prosecutor, Constable Ramsey Naluso, told the court that Dzokole committed the offence on November 2, 2025, when he met the victim at a garden where she had gone to water tomatoes.
The court heard that the victim later reported the matter after a well-wisher witnessed the incident and informed her aunt.
Naluso asked the court for a stiff sentence, saying Dzokole abused the trust placed in him as someone who was supposed to protect the child.
Dzokole pleaded for leniency, saying he was a first offender and supported his family.
First Grade Magistrate Margaret Khobiri sentenced Dzokole to 11 years imprisonment with hard labour, saying the punishment should serve as a lesson to him and other would-be offenders.
Dzokole comes from Chidakwani Village, Traditional Authority Chekucheku in Neno District.
