Mangochi Police Arrest Primary School Teacher for Defiling Standard 7 Girl

Police in Mangochi have arrested a 31 year old primary school teacher, Davie Chunga, for allegedly defiling a 14 year old Standard 7 student.
Mangochi Police Station Spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi confirmed that the incident occurred on 26 July 2026.
According to Daudi, the young girl was returning home from a church service when she met Chunga, who invited her to his house under the pretext of providing extra academic lessons.
Once inside his residence, the teacher asked the student to cook nsima for him before sexually assaulting her. Following the attack, Chunga handed the minor K10,000 as a hush-money bribe to keep her silent about the incident.
Upon returning home, the girl was questioned by her parents regarding her whereabouts. She disclosed the details of what had transpired, prompting her parents to report the matter to Mangochi Police. Law enforcement officers referred the victim to a medical facility, where official hospital examinations confirmed that she had been defiled.
The suspect, Davie Chunga, hails from Pezupezu Village under Senior Chief Mzikubola in Mzimba District. He is expected to appear in court soon to answer defilement charges.
