Mutharika fires Inspector General of Police Lexten Kachama

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired Inspector General of Police Lexten Kachama, faceofmalawi can reveal.

The firing comes barely a week after reports imaged on the social media that Kachama is planning to contest for Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming tripartite election under Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket.

But Kachama denied the report by saying the rumour is aimed at tarnishing his image.

According to a statement signed by Chief Secretary to the President Lloyd Muhara, Kachama has been replaced by Rodney Jose.
