The Country’s vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on Monday defied all odds and faced President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at Kanengo Auction Floors during the official opening of the 2018 tobacco selling season.
Last week former first lady Callista Mutharika dropped a bombshell dubbed ‘Hurricane Callista’ endorsing Chilima as the only hope for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the forthcoming tripartite election.
Callista repeated her scuffing attack on Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) on Saturday where she said Mutharika is surrounded by beast.
The remarks by Callista ignited debate on the relationship between Mutharika and Chilima with many describing it as sour.
Others even went further speculating that Chilima will miss the official opening of the 2018 Tobacco selling season which was not the case.
Chilima appeared at the function in a jovial mood.
