Update on April 27 demonstrations: Game Stores in Blantyre not opening tomorrow

Game Stores at Chichiri Shopping Centre in Blantyre will not open tomorrow as Malawians will be demonstrating against the social, economic and political ills facing the country.

This has been disclosed in disclosed in a short notice posted at the entrance seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

“Kindly be informed that this store will be closed tomorrow April 27, 2018. Normal trading will resume on Saturday, April 28, 2018,” reads in part the statement.

The protestors are set to demonstrate against government over the way the K4 billion payout to MPs was approved circumventing Parliament.

The protestors also want Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe and Local Government Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa to resign from their cabinet positions.

Earlier today youth cadets of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) invaded the commercial Capital Blantyre chanting songs against the demonstrations.

The youth cadets threatened to do everything within their powers to block the demonstrations.
