Protestors turn out in large numbers in Mzuzu: Harry Mkandawire hails police

Thousands of Malawians participated in the demonstrations organized by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the every green city of Mzuzu.

The protestors started marching from Katoto Freedom Park to Mzuzu Civic Centre and the demostrations started at around 10am.

Some of the notable figures who attended the protests include; Harry Mkandawire of Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Kamuzu Chibambo of PETRA and other top officials from opposition People’s Party (PP).

Speaking in an interview with the press Mkandawire hailed the police for professional handling the crowds.

Mkandawire said Malawians have lost trust in the leadership of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

In a related development, demonstrations in Zomba end peacefully.

Zomba District Commissioner Emmanuel Bambe received the petition which was read by Jimmy Aaron.

Bambe assured demonstrators that he will send the petition to the office of the president and cabinet today #MADemo2018
