Man dies in road accident in Kasungu

One person is reported dead while three others have sustained serious injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in collided with a flatliner truck carrying tobacco bales in Kasungu.

Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer Harry Namwaza confirmed of the accident in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Shaibu M’balaka.

According to information at hand, the vehicle belongs to one of the top officials in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the district identified as Mr. Lungu and the vehicle had no papers.

The source said the vehicle was being driven by Mr. Lungu’s son Albert who according to the source has no licence.

Police have since released Albert on bail after being detained for an hour.

Meanwhile the victims are receiving treatment at Kasungu District Hospital.
