Mutharika declared DPP Presidential Candidate in 2019

The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially declared Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as its presidential candidate for 2019 elections.

DPP vice president for the North, Dr. Goodall Gondwe moved the motion to declare President Mutharika as the presidential candidate. And the motion was seconded by Bintony Kutsaira, who is the Regional Governor for the Central Region.

The meeting has also declared Goodall Gondwe as Northern Region vice president, while Bright Nsaka Vice President for Eastern Region, who both went unopposed according to Convention Chairperson Nicholas Dausi.

Currently delegates are voting for position of Vice President in the South where four candidates namely Dr. George Chaponda, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Joseph Mwanamvekha, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa and Henry Mussa who are vying for the post.
