Chilima to contest for presidency

Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has finally come out in the open to say that he will contest for the position of president in 2019 tripartite elections.

Dr Chilima who is the leader of the grouping called United Transformation Movement (UTM) said this during the launch of the movement at Masitha ground in Lilongwe.

He said he arrived at this decision because he wants to bail out the country from massive corruption which has worsened in government.

“There are people who are stealing money in government, l know how they are doing it and soon l will start exposing them and lam even ready to challenge them in court,” said Chilima.

Dr Chilima also said that he knows that there are people who want to rig the elections but he said that they will not succeed.

The Vice President said that the country needs a person with visionary leadership adding that when people are elected in various positions they forget that they are the servants of the people.

Dr Chilima added that if nothing will be done to stamp out corruption the country will reach at a stagnant stage by the end of next year.

“There are people who are giving each other dubious contracts to steal public resources and the image of the country has been dented outside because of these people, we want to change that when we come into power in 2019,” he said.

Speaking at the same    launch Secretary General for the movement Patricia Kaliati said that who said that the vice president are chosen just to clap hands for everything.

She said that they have no doubt that Dr Chilima will win the elections next year whether someone likes it or not.
