Police at Nchalo in Chikwawa have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.
District’s police public relations officer, Foster Benjamin confirmed of the development and said Fanuel M’mangisa was nabbed on Wednesday barely three months after sexually penetrating a neighbour’s daughter, impregnating her in the process.
“The incident took place in April at Allan 2 Village under Paramount Chief Lundu in the district. During that time, the victim went to sleep at the suspect’s house after being invited by the suspect’s daughters.
“The girls’ mother at the time had gone out farming at the East Bank,”said Benjamin.
According to the PRO, the suspect is said to have sneaked into the daughters’ room and pounced on the victim, fishing her away into his sons’ room.
The sons were out accompanying their mother during that very same time.
Mmangisa allegedly could not hesitate sexually attacking the victim before advising her not to reveal about it.
The victim had since kept it a secret until her mother smelt a rat following signs of pregnancy on her.
She was then taken to St Montfort Mission Hospital where an examination revealed she was pregnant.
Upon being asked who impregnated her, she revealed of the suspect and an arrest followed.
Meanwhile, Mangisa will appear in court soon to answer a charge of defilement.
