Robbers Attack C.C.A.P. Reverend for Sunday Service Money

A manhunt is underway in Chikwawa for a three-man gang that attacked Reverend Kennedy Gama of Namalindi Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) before ransacking his house.

The thugs went on assaulting Gama’s daughter and his watchman, leaving the watchman severely injured.

According to Chikwawa police public relations officer, Foster Benjamin, the incident occurred on Monday at around 9 o’clock in the evening.

“It is said that Gama’s daughter went outside to check water. Immediately she bumped into three men who were masked and in weave make-up.

“They brandished panga knives and a rifle-like object.

“The gang instantly grabbed the girl, and forced her back into the house, prompting her father to rush out for help following her outcry, ” said Benjamin.

The bandits dragged Gama and his 15-year-old daughter back into house, and started assaulting them, leaving the father with a minor cut on the head.

It has also been reported that the gang demanded money collected from the previous day’s Sunday service.

“Apparently fearful, Gama’s wife surrendered K50,000, and the criminals went about ransacking the house.

“They went away with a wallet containing K75,000, two smartphones, a bale of sugar, an auto teller machine card, and other items worth about K207,000, “Benjamin added.

Police came to the scene but it was after the robbers had disappeared.

Later, Gama’s watchman, Kaunda Million, appeared while nursing multiple injuries on his head, following assault by the thugs.

Police took the three victims to the hospital where they were treated as outpatients.

Meanwhile, Investigations are still on to trace and bring those perpetrators to justice.

Once arrested, they will face robbery with violence charges
