Two health workers arrested for being found with uterus

Two workers from Thyolo District Hospital are in Police custody in Blantyre over human tissue (uterus).

The arrest of the two who are a labour ward attendant and messenger at the said facility respectively follows an earlier arrest of a man at Manase in Blantyre who was found with human uterus.

Police at Manase acting on a tip arrested Richard Boyson 38 of Mtumba village T.A. Ganya in Ntcheu but a resident at Chiimire village within Manase where a human uterus was found on 17/01/2019 at around 0500 hours.

When quizzed where he got the uterus, he mentioned the two as the ones who supplied it to him. He said it was meant to boost his undisclosed business.

The law enforcers from Blantyre travelled to Thyolo where the two hospital workers were arrested namely;Bertha Nambuzi 30 of Magombo village traditional authority Mchiramwera ( Labour ward attendant) and Jam Master Chophika 49 of Nkusa village traditional authority Khwethemule (messenger) all from Thyolo District.

The human uterus has since been sent to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for analysis.

The three are expected to appear before court soon to answer charges contravening the Anatomy Act.
