FRANCE EMBASSY TO RE-OPEN

French Ambassador to Malawi and Zimbabwe has said his country is considering re-opening the embassy in the country.

His Excellency Richard Boidin was speaking at the end of French arts competition at Stella Maris secondary school in Blantyre.

He said his country is impressed with the rate at which French language and culture is being adopted in the country.

“We are very impressed with the level of spoken French and how this country is fast adopting the French culture, our country is humbled,” he said.

He therefore asked secondary schools to continue teaching French to the students.

The ambassador also pledged two air tickets to France for two best actors in the next year’s competition.

“Two flight tickets are up for grabs in the next year’s competition to two best ctors, this will be a way of encouraging the French learning students in the country, ” he said.

Deputy Director of secondary Education in the ministry of education, science and technology, Ruth Somati-Kambali said it’s encouraging to see students speaking a foreign language.

She said government will continue to support the the schools in all subjects including French.

She said speaking and learning French may be an advantage to the students in the future as they can be employed in the French speaking countries.

“Speaking French has an advantage with the global village, one can be on an advantage if he or she applies a job in the French speaking countries, ” she said.

She said the Government will strive to Help the schools in despite lack of funds.

On the event, Jacaranda school for orphans returned the championship followed by Dario girls and on third was Marymount secondary school.
