Mutharika extend internship program for college students

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has directed the extension of contract by one year for students who are on the government internship program.

Director of Communication for the President Bright Molande confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Molande, the President disclosed this after meeting the leadership of the University of Malawi.

Molande said this will greatly assist students who graduated from the university to get job opportunities.

In a related development the President has also assented to the Autonomy Bill which will result in the birth of standalone universities from the University of Malawi.

According to Molande this arrangement will help the country in creating more space for students in the public universities.

The new arrangement will see Chancellor College and the Polytechnic standing alone while College of Medicine and Kamuzu College of Nursing merging into one public university.
