UDF MPs not satisfied with PP’s partnership

United Democratic Front (UDF) parliamentarians say they are dissatisfied with the working relationship with the ruling People’s Party (PP).

Clement Chiwaya who leads the UDF parliamentarians confirmed to Zodiak that his colleagues have complained to him that Peoples Party cohorts are telling UDF party loyalists that the party has been swallowed.

“We are very concerned that Peoples Party followers are going around our (UDF) constituents telling people that we have defected to the ruling party just because we are sitting on the government side in parliament.

“It is expensive to start refuting the allegations,” Chiwaya lamented.

He said the party’s lawmakers will meet over the weekend to map the way forward. He did not rule out the possibility of shifting from government benches to the opposition side.

Deputy publicity secretary of Peoples Party Ken Msonda said PP does not need a written contractual agreement with any party.

“Everybody is happy with the regime of Madam Joyce Banda, why should we have a memorandum of understanding?” wondered Msonda.
