APAM rejects security alarms donated to them bearing Mutharika’s name

Association of People with Albinism (APAM) has rejected the security gadgets which the government has bought to aid in monitoring the security of people with albinism in the country.

APAM National Coordinator Overstone Kondowe confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.

Kondowe said the group feels the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is politicizing the gadgets.

“Persons with albinism who are members of APAM have sternly refused to receive 1600 personal security donated by HE until he removes a label “APM cares” branded on the gadgets. The membership feels the state is politicizing PWA challenges for political gains rather than seriousness the issue deserves,” wrote Kondowe on his official facebook page.

APAM Deputy Secretary General Ian Simbota also confirmed of the development in an interview with Nation Publication Limited.

The security gadgets are in blue colour and have an inscription: “APM Cares”.
