PP fires 15 members over convention allowances

By Chancy Namadzunda
The ruling People’s Party (PP) Central Region province yesterday fired
15 members who were reportedly fighting to get their allowances after
their participation at the party’s convention held last month in
Blantyre.

Among the 15 are the province’s First and second Deputy Director of
Women Affairs Catherine Banda and a Mrs. Mtupanyama respectively.

According to the party’s inside source, the disciplinary committee
which was headed by the Province Chairman Kizito Ngwembe, Edith Mtunga
and George Zulu resolved fire the group for ‘creating disturbances in
the party.’

“I can confirm that the meeting took place yesterday at the party’s
regional offices in Lilongwe where it was heard that the group was
insulting even the party’s leadership. Everyone present agreed to fire
the three,” said the source.

However, the party’s Spokesperson Ken Nsonda said the group has not
been fired but they have been suspended.

“I can confirm that the group has been suspended for three month and
not fired,” he told Zodiak Broadcasting Corporation (ZBS) but could
not give reasons.
