Suspected thief beaten to death by angry mob in Chiradzulu

A 43 year old man, Patrick Gabriel was on Monday brutally assaulted to death by an angry mob after he was caught stealing charcoal from charcoal dealers.

Chiradzulu Police Station Officer, Moses Chibwe confirmed the development saying that the deceased was stealing charcoal from dealers from Chilumpha Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Ntchema in Chiradzulu at around 4:30 in the morning.

He added that the angry mob grabbed the deceased and heavily assaulted him where he sustained multiple wounds to his head.

According to Chibwe the deceased was later taken to Chiradzulu District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival and post-mortem done at the hospital revealed that death was due to severe external bleeding.

Meanwhile police are advising the general public not to take the law into their own hands.

Gabriel hailed from Chilumpha village, T/A Ntchema in the district.
