Chilima joins anti-Ansah demonstrations in Lilongwe

United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Saulos Chilima has joined the peaceful protest to force the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.

The nationalwide protests have been organized by Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) led by Timothy Mtambo and Gift Trapence.

In his speech, Chilima called upon protesters to be strong and not to be afraid, saying no one asks for permission to demonstrate.

He has also called on them to be peaceful, asking police to arrest anyone found in the wrong. Vigils will be held on the road from parliament to Capital Hill round about.
